Matt Carter was born and raised in Michigan, and started skating when he was three years old and playing shortly thereafter. Matt played high school hockey and since then stayed active in the game coaching. In 2020 Matt joined the Belfry Hockey Columbus and Elite Development Program coaching ranks, and shortly thereafter was hired by the Olentangy Orange to be its Head JV Coach.
